The Daniel Liss Memorial Foundation

Please take a second to read about a wonderful person taken from this world too soon, and make sure you hug your babies today!

Dan was born on March 6, 1988 to Ken and Gina Liss and grew up in Bridgewater, NJ where he touched the lives of many individuals. Dan was an avid sports fan and athlete; best known for his great success as a wrestler for Bridgewater-Raritan High School. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, traveling and scuba diving but most importantly he loved spending time with his family and friends. In his junior year of college at Rider University, Dan was fortunate enough to be selected to spend a semester studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain. During his semester, Dan studied the language and culture of Spain while traveling to 8 different countries throughout Europe and even went sky diving in the Swiss Alps.  Upon his return to the states in May 2010, he was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer; Ewings Sarcoma. Shortly after being diagnosed, Dan became paralyzed due to a tumor growing on his spine. After several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, his condition quickly deteriorated. His was determined to beat the cancer with support with much love from his family and friends. Unfortunately, Dan lost his battle on August 10, 2010. The world lost a wonderful human being that day.

The Daniel T. Liss Memorial Foundation is a non profit organization to support cancer patients living in our communities who have been diagnosed with cancer and other life threatening illnesses by improving the quality of life for the patient and their families. Our foundation also helps student athletes further their education through college scholarships since education was extremely important to Dan. In the previous two years we have awarded a scholarship to two senior wrestlers. Each October, we hold Torbethon, a 5k run in honor of Dan. We have had two very successful events that last two years! We hope to continue to grow and help people in Dan's name.
